General questions

What is Unnamed Label?
Unnamed Label is an independent label started by three kids. Releases here are either sold as limited-production CD’s and pay-what-you-want MP3’s. You can find out more about us by going to our “About us” page.

Pay-What-You-Want? Variable Price? What is that?
Exactly what it sounds like. You pay the amount you want to pay for the MP3 version of a release. Whether it’s $5, $10, $20, or maybe $50. Or if you don’t want to pay anything, you can go with a retroactive payment. There may be a minimum amount you’re required to pay (Paypal likes to take a nice chunk of sales).

What is a Retroactive Payment?
Also known as “Pay later”, Retroactive Payment (RP from now on) is our way of saying “Download and listen to the album now and pay later”. Limitations may take place, however, such as missing tracks, album artwork, lower bit-rate, etc. HOWEVER, all of the MP3’s are still DRM free and should work on any computer and any player. The idea of RP is that you can take a listen to the album while you’re on the go or on your free time and if you really like it and want to contribute, the option is there. There is no way for us to track if you end up purchasing the album or not as it is ultimately your decision. Since November 24th, registration is no longer required for downloads.

Can I send you guys my demo?
Sure. It would be nice if you can send a physical copy to the address specified but a lot of people these days like the convenience of sending stuff to our e-mail. To get in touch, you can find our contact information on our Contact Us page. Please note, if you decide to send a CD, include your e-mail, artist name and a little bit of information. Same applies for e-mails, but for god’s sake, do not attach anything. Do not send us Myspace/social_networking_site links. Please have at least 6 songs up and upload your music to a place like soundcloud (We really, really like soundcloud!) or your own hosting and give us the link(s) in the e-mail. Violators of the rules above will have their entry thrown away.

Send me your track

How do I stream your music?
On the release page, you should see the track listing and “Play, Stop, Back, Forward” buttons right underneath. Just click on the name of the song you want to hear and depending on your internet speed, should start playing pretty quickly. Otherwise, you should get a message saying that you do not have flash player installed and can’t stream music. Don’t worry though, the Flash player is completely free and should be a quick and easy install. Get it here

Do you offer album ______ on iTunes/Amazon/Other digital retailer?
At the moment, it is up to the artist if they want to have their album on other digital retailers such as iTunes or Amazon, so you my find some of our albums on those services and others not.

How many times can I download my purchases?
Because of the size of some of our downloads, you’re allowed three downloads of each purchase within one week. All downloads are locked to your IP-address. Once you download your purchase, make sure you back it up!

We will do everything we can to make sure whatever personal information you do give us STAYS with us and will not be given out to any third party organizations.

I don’t like this album, can I return it?
